Flamenco dance originated from the gypsies of Andalucia Spain. Because of the rapid footwork, hand clapping, and dramatic body movements, flamenco is highly expressive. Flamenco style has adopted influences from Greek, Roman and Moorish cultures. With migrants coming to the Iberian Peninsula centuries ago, dancers began adding different styles of dance. Evolving quickly, Spanish dancers began appearing in street-side cafes. With its passion and expressive nature, flamenco soon stole the show. The flamenco dancing we see today, melds together centuries of cultural diversity.
